God’s Grandeur at its Best!

A Visit To The Rambagh Palace, Jaipur

Some places and experiences humble you down not because of the grandeur and the opulence they carry, but because of the authenticity they reflect and the emotions they bring out in you.

Our recent visit to the Rambagh Palace is one of such experiences!

Grandeur at its best!
A memorable visit!
All set to explore!

It was my third visit to the Palace but this one was uniquely special, not just because of the company of my childhood friends, but also because of the timing of our visit!

On 2nd September 2021, after a day spent at the shopping streets of Jaipur, we entered Rambagh around 4pm for high tea.

To our pleasant surprise, we were welcomed not by an army of servers or staff members but by a muster of peacocks, roaming freely in the gardens of the Palace.

There was a warm embrace of nature all around and the silence and serenity of the place calmed our senses, making us completely forget the hustle bustle of our daily lives.

We wandered subtly around the garden, making sure we were not disturbing the beautiful peacocks and peahens, who were busy eating the grass, which was lush green after a splash of rain.

Slowly and gently, they let us in their beautiful abode and in no time, we all felt like home!

The peacocks and peahens were strutting around the gardens, the arches and every other nook and corner of the 47 acre huge property, claiming the Palace as their own.

Undoubtedly, it is the natural landscapes, the ambience of simplicity and a gentle touch of Indian heritage that makes this Palace a beautiful abode for over 200 of these birds, living there comfortably and calling it their home for several generations now.

The peacocks did not feel threatened at all and rather dazed us with their comfort and hospitality towards us.

While one peacock completely fanned out its feathers for as long as one could have wanted, the other one kept coming back to us in anticipation of food and attention.

Never before in our lives, had we spent so many hours with these beautiful creatures who were probably sent by God to adorn this 185 year old Palace and bless all its visitors with divinity, vibrance and rejuvenation.

The experience was nothing less than heavenly!

Just when we were still absorbing the serenity of the place , it was time to witness another beautiful phenomena.

It was time for the sun to set and the Palace to shine in its glory!

As the sun started to set, the Palace was illuminated and the gardens became dark and empty, as all the magnificent birds made way to the big trees with a loud cheer and applause.

It felt like a million birds were finally together catching up after a long day, chirping, rustling and toasting loudly to another beautiful day!

This simple daily ritual of the birds reminded me of the beauty of the sunset, yet once again. A simple phenomena of the nature that occurs exactly at the same time, with the same beauty everyday and brings you gratitude and hope.

And no matter who you are or where you wander throughout the day, when the sun sets, its your home where you return, to your family and friends where you belong, with the satisfaction of another day spent well and a heart full of cheer and hope for the coming day!
